Quilcayhuanca Trek

The first day of the Quilcayhuanca Trek 3 Days begins with an early departure from Huaraz, driving toward Pitec through the traditional Andean villages of Unchus and Llupa. From Pitec, we hike to the spectacular Laguna Churup, famous for its intense turquoise color and dramatic setting below Mount Churup.

After enjoying the lake, we return to Pitec and continue by vehicle to the Quilcayhuanca trailhead (La Portada), where we set up camp and spend the night surrounded by mountain scenery and a clear Andean sky.

Day 2 is the heart of the Quilcayhuanca Trek 3 Days, following a mostly flat and panoramic trail through the Quilcayhuanca Valley, one of the most beautiful and least-visited valleys in the Cordillera Blanca.

The gentle terrain allows for a relaxed walk across green meadows, wetlands, and crystal clear rivers, with impressive rock walls rising on both sides of the valley. Along the route, we encounter pre-Inca archaeological remains, evidence of the ancient cultures that once inhabited this area. We arrive at Olivo Camp, a quiet campsite ideal for rest and immersion in nature.

On the final day of the Quilcayhuanca Valley trek, we hike toward Laguna Tullpa and the stunning Laguna Cuchillacocha, one of the most scenic points of this 3 day trek in the Cordillera Blanca.

From here, we enjoy outstanding views of snow-capped peaks such as Tullparaju, Pucarranra, and Chinchay. After soaking in the scenery, we return to camp, pack our gear, and walk back to the trailhead, where our transport takes us back to Huaraz.
