Climbing Expeditions in the Peruvian Andes
The Cordillera Blanca is one of the most important alpine climbing regions in the world, known for its exceptional concentration of high Andean peaks and technical glacier routes.
This extraordinary mountain range is home to legendary summits such as Alpamayo, often recognized for its striking pyramid shape, and Huascarán, the highest tropical mountain on Earth at 6,768 meters. Dozens of additional peaks rise above 6,000 meters, offering a unique combination of altitude, accessibility, and technical alpine terrain.
Below you will find a selection of our most classic and frequently climbed objectives. Beyond this list, we organize expeditions across a wide variety of mountains from introductory glacier climbs ideal for acclimatization to highly technical alpine ascents within and around Huascarán National Park.

International Safety Standards and IFMGA-Certified Mountain Guides
Safety is the foundation of every expedition we lead in the Peruvian Andes.
Exploria was founded by certified mountain guides who are active members of AGMP – IFMGA (International Federation of Mountain Guides Associations). All expeditions are conducted exclusively by IFMGA certified professionals, ensuring internationally recognized standards in risk management, technical leadership, and high altitude decisión making.
From our base in Huaraz, we operate with small teams and carefully managed guide to client ratios, applying structured acclimatization plans and conservative summit strategies.
Our safety framework includes:
- Progressive acclimatization schedules
• Continuous weather and route assessment
• Glacier rescue readiness
• Certified technical equipment
• Clear emergency protocols
High altitude mountaineering demands discipline, preparation, and professional judgment. Our approach reflects a consistent commitment to responsible expedition leadership.
International Expedition Experience with Exploria
While the Cordillera Blanca and Cordillera Huayhuash remain our primary base of operations, Exploria also conducts select expeditions across Peru and other Andean countries.
Our team has recently led climbing expeditions in Bolivia, Argentina, Ecuador, and Chile. This broader experience strengthens our logistical coordination, risk assessment processes, and leadership in diverse high altitude environments insights we continuously apply to our operations in Peru.

Acclimatization and Preparation for Climbing in the Cordillera Blanca
Proper acclimatization is essential for safe and successful high altitude climbing.
Before beginning a major ascent, we often recommend complementing your expedition with progressive trekking routes in the region to support gradual adaptation to altitude. Our team provides guidance on physical preparation, equipment selection, route planning, and realistic objective selection.
The Cordillera Blanca lies within Huascarán National Park, one of Peru’s most important protected areas, managed by SERNANP. All mountaineering activities are conducted in accordance with park regulations, ensuring responsible access and preservation of high altitude ecosystems.
