7:00 am. :

Departure from Huaraz

We depart from Huaraz by private transportation and travel south through the Callejón de Huaylas.

The route passes traditional Andean villages, agricultural landscapes and mountain valleys while the guide introduces the geography and history of the Áncash region.

As we gain altitude, the landscape changes into open puna terrain surrounded by the peaks of the Cordillera Blanca.

Laguna Querococha

Our first stop is Laguna Querococha, one of the most scenic points along the route. Located at approximately 3,980 m / 13,058 ft, the lake reflects the high-Andean environment with open grasslands, mountain slopes and impressive views.

We take time for photographs and enjoy the landscape before continuing toward the mountain pass.

10:30 am. :

Cahuish Tunnel Crossing

We continue climbing toward the Cahuish Tunnel, which crosses the Cordillera Blanca and connects the Callejón de Huaylas with the Conchucos region. At approximately 4,516 m / 14,816 ft, this is the highest point of the journey.

The landscape changes dramatically after crossing the tunnel, revealing the eastern side of the Andes.

Guided Visit to Chavin de Huantar

We arrive at the archaeological complex and begin the guided visit. Chavin de Huantar was an important ceremonial center of the ancient Andes, known for its monumental architecture, underground galleries and symbolic stone carvings.

During the visit, we explore areas such as: Ceremonial plazas, Stone architecture, Underground galleries, Symbolic carvings. The famous Lanzón and tenon heads (according to current access regulations)

The guide explains the religious beliefs, engineering achievements and cultural importance of the Chavin civilization.

2:00 pm. :

Lunch in Chavin Town

After the archaeological visit, we have free time for lunch in the town of Chavin de Huantar.

Lunch is not included unless specified in the confirmed booking option.

Travelers may also have time to explore the surroundings or purchase souvenirs.

3:00 pm. :

Return Journey to Huaraz

We begin the return trip through the Conchucos region and cross the Cordillera Blanca again. The journey provides another opportunity to appreciate the relationship between the mountain environment and ancient Andean routes.

6:30 pm. :

Arrival in Huaraz

We arrive back in Huaraz in the evening.

The exact arrival time may vary depending on road conditions, weather, traffic and archaeological-site access.
