Ishinca, Urus & Tocllaraju Expedition

Our expedition begins in Huaraz with a private transfer toward the community of Pashpa, the traditional access point to the beautiful Ishinca Valley.

From Pashpa, we begin the approach hike into one of the most important climbing areas of the Cordillera Blanca. The trail gradually enters the valley surrounded by impressive peaks, glaciers and high-Andean landscapes.

After reaching Ishinca Base Camp, the team settles in, organizes climbing equipment and prepares for the acclimatization climbs ahead.

Base Camp Altitude: Approximately 4,350 m / 14,272 ft
Hiking Time: 4-5 hours

After an early breakfast, we begin the ascent of Urus, the first climbing objective of the expedition and an important acclimatization peak before attempting Tocllaraju.

The route gradually ascends through moraine terrain and glacier sections, allowing the team to practice high-altitude movement and glacier techniques. From the upper sections, we enjoy impressive views of the Ishinca Valley and surrounding Cordillera Blanca peaks.

After reaching the summit area, we descend back to Ishinca Base Camp to rest and recover.

Urus Altitude: Approximately 5,495 m / 18,028 ft
Climbing Time: 8-10 hours

Today we climb Ishinca, another classic peak of the Cordillera Blanca and an excellent preparation objective before the Tocllaraju ascent.

The route combines high-altitude trekking, glacier travel and basic mountaineering techniques. The climb provides valuable experience with crampons, ice axe and rope systems while allowing the team to continue adapting to altitude.

After the summit attempt, we return to Base Camp for rest and preparation for the next stage of the expedition.

Ishinca Altitude: Approximately 5,530 m / 18,143 ft
Climbing Time: 8-10 hours

After completing the Urus and Ishinca acclimatization climbs, this day is dedicated to recovery and final preparation for the main objective: Tocllaraju.

The mountain guide reviews the climbing strategy, checks technical equipment and provides final instructions before entering the higher alpine terrain.

This rest day is essential to maximize acclimatization and ensure the team is properly prepared for the technical stages ahead.

Activity: Rest, equipment review and expedition preparation

The expedition continues toward Tocllaraju Moraine Camp.

Leaving the Ishinca Valley, we move into more remote alpine terrain and gradually gain altitude. The route becomes more technical as we approach the glacier environment surrounding Tocllaraju.

Upon arrival at Moraine Camp, the team prepares equipment and rests before the summit attempt.

Moraine Camp Altitude: Approximately 5,000 m / 16,404 ft
Hiking Time: 5-6 hours

The main objective of the expedition begins before dawn.

The team enters the glacier using crampons, ropes and ice axes to ascend Tocllaraju, one of the classic 6,000-meter peaks of the Cordillera Blanca.

The climb involves glacier travel, snow and ice sections and technical terrain requiring teamwork and concentration. If weather, glacier conditions and team performance allow, we attempt the 6,034 m / 19,797 ft summit before descending back toward Ishinca Base Camp.

Climbing Time: 10-14 hours
Difficulty: Very Challenging / Technical

After breakfast, we begin the final descent through the Ishinca Valley toward Pashpa.

At the end of the trail, private transportation will be waiting to return the team to Huaraz, completing an unforgettable expedition that combines acclimatization climbs on Urus and Ishinca with the technical challenge of Tocllaraju.
