The Laguna 69 Day Hike from Huaraz is one of the most famous one day trekking experiences in Peru’s Cordillera Blanca.

Starting from Cebollapampa at approximately 3,900 m / 12,795 ft, the trail gradually climbs through a beautiful Andean valley surrounded by waterfalls, streams, grasslands and impressive snow-covered peaks.

After several hours of hiking, we reach Laguna 69 at approximately 4,600 m / 15,092 ft, where the intense turquoise water contrasts with the dramatic mountain scenery beneath Chacraraju and near Nevado Pisco.

Departure from Huaraz

The day begins early with private transportation from your hotel in Huaraz.

We travel through the Callejón de Huaylas toward the Llanganuco Valley, one of the most spectacular areas of the Cordillera Blanca, surrounded by traditional Andean villages, agricultural landscapes and impressive mountain views.

As we approach Huascarán National Park, the scenery changes into a high-mountain environment with glaciers, turquoise lakes and towering peaks.

Cebollapampa - Start of the Hike

We arrive at Cebollapampa, the starting point of the Laguna 69 trail.

The hike begins through a wide glacial valley following streams, waterfalls and green Andean landscapes. The first section is relatively gentle, allowing hikers to adjust their pace before the steeper ascent.

As altitude increases, the views become increasingly impressive, with surrounding peaks and glaciers appearing above the valley.

11:30 AM :

Arrival at Laguna 69

After completing the final ascent, we arrive at Laguna 69, located beneath impressive mountain walls and surrounded by the peaks of the Cordillera Blanca.

The turquoise color of the lake, created by glacial minerals, creates one of the most recognizable landscapes of the Huaraz region.

We take time to rest, enjoy the scenery, have lunch or snacks and capture photographs before beginning the descent.

12:30 PM :

Descent to Cebollapampa

We begin the return hike along the same route toward Cebollapampa.

Although descending is physically easier, careful walking is required on rocky sections. The valley offers a different perspective of the waterfalls, grasslands and surrounding mountains.

Descent Time: Approximately 2 - 3 hours

3:00 PM :

Return Transportation to Huaraz

At Cebollapampa, private transportation will be waiting for the return journey through the Llanganuco Valley.

This is a great opportunity to relax after the hike and enjoy the final views of the Cordillera Blanca.

6:00 PM :

Arrival in Huaraz

We arrive back in Huaraz after a complete day combining scenic travel, high-altitude hiking and one of Peru’s most beautiful natural landscapes.
